About

My name is Rey Byrne and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MO License #2021043650). I completed my Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology at John F. Kennedy University in Berkeley, California in 2017. I also have a Masters of Arts in Women and Gender Studies. I have been trained in somatics techniques, mindfulness, trauma-informed care, secondary trauma, expressive arts, gender expansiveness, anti-racism, and intersectionality. I also have experience working within school systems to support neurodivergent children.

Before I became a therapist, I was a client. I came to the field of therapy because I know from experience that sometimes it is difficult to find someone who is a good fit, and when you do find that person, it can be life changing. Whether or not I am that person for you or your loved one, I hope to aid in the journey to find the support you need. I hold a radical mental health lens, which deconstructs pathology, sees mental health struggles through a lens of oppression and neurodiversity, and seeks to center the voices and experiences of those who struggle in a neurotypical world.

I am a white Jewish person raised in an interfaith family, born and raised in St. Louis. I am trans, non-binary, and queer. I strive to challenge white supremacy, capitalism, ableism, and heteropatriarchy and work towards building a world where we all can safely be ourselves, together.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my cats and plants, drawing, engaging in local mutual aid and community building, and exploring the woods and waterways of the St. Louis area.
